PSG turns behind and escapes new averij at debut Wijnaldum

The Paris Saint-Germain star ensemble has passed the first round of the Ligue 1 season. The City of Light team reversed an early lag against reigning Ligue 2 champion Troyes and won 1-2.
PSG finished second behind Lille OSC last season and had to leave the French Supercup to the same Lille. It seemed to be heading the wrong way to Troyes for a while. Oualid El Hajjam headed 1-0 past Keylor Navas within ten minutes, who defended the goal in the absence of Gianluigi Donnarumma.

However, the guests from Paris put things in order at lightning speed and stood at a 1-2 lead twelve minutes after the opening strike. Achraf Hakimi popped the ball from a difficult angle past goalkeeper Gauthier Gallon and Mauro Icardi remained icy calm after receiving a pass from Kylian Mbappé.

Jimmy Giraudon also prevented Mbappé 1-3 shortly afterwards, but that turned out not to be a costly miss for PSG. Debutant Georginio Wijnaldum and his team mates pulled the points across the line, so PSG is immediately at the lead of the ranking. Title holder Lille opens the new Ligue 1 campaign on Sunday with an outing match against FC Metz.
