PSV benefits from the million-dollar transfer that Memphis Depay is going to make and can already chill the champagne. The attacker is about to exchange Olympique Lyon for FC Barcelona. That transfer is expected to be completed this week.
Memphis (26) switched from PSV to Manchester United for 34 million euros in 2015. According to the Eindhovens Dagblad, PSV receives 3.75% of each transfer fee for Memphis. De CCeit reported that Memphis will go to Barcelona for 30 million: 25 million will now be transferred, five million after this season. Two million in bonuses can be added to this amount.
If the transfer sum is indeed EUR 30 million, PSV will collect more than EUR 1.1 million. The club from Eindhoven already received 600,000 euros in 2017, after Memphis switched from Manchester United to Lyon for sixteen million euros.
The top Premier League club is reportedly not benefiting. Lyon and Man United did not agree on a resale rate, but they did agree on an amount of three million euros if Memphis were to extend its contract in France. Lyon wanted that, Memphis did not.
PSV receives 3.75% of each transfer fee for Memphis. If it now turns out to be 30 million euros – as the CCeit colleagues report – he will be earning PSV another 1.1 million euros. Previously, 600,000 euros and before that 34 million.
