‘PSV can still hope for longer stays of highly sought-after Gakpo’

PSV can still be hopeful of a longer stay by Cody Gakpo. The attacker is in the interest of foreign clubs, but is considering staying longer in Eindhoven.
The Peesjevee Podcast of the Eindhovens Dagblad mentions the fact that Gakpo has nothing to complain about interest. Still, he would think about a longer stay at Philips Stadium and so PSV might be able to enjoy the ‘Final Wizar’ even longer.
Rik Elfrink, club watcher on behalf of the ED, thinks PSV Gakpo can offer a nice picture. โ€œHe has to become one of the spearheads and has already spoken with Ruud van Nistelrooy, the new trainer. The question is also what this season will bring. If PSV does not become a champion, does he not want to leave the club until he does stand with the title? And the World Cup also plays an important role.โ€
Earlier this week, it was already clear that PSV wants to go far to keep the wing-striker in the Philips Stadium longer. Currently, Gakpo has a contract until mid-2026, but that could be extended by one year under much improved terms.
