PSV manages to defeat Sparta in crazy duel with a great deal of effort

PSV has won Sparta with a lot of effort in-house. The Eindhoveners had very great chances, but Maduka Okoye seemed inpassable. Ibrahim Sangaré and Ryan Thomas proved the opposite at the end of the game.
Earlier on Sunday Ajax and Feyenoord lost to FC Utrecht and Vitesse respectively. PSV was able to take full advantage of that in-house against Sparta. However, the first half was difficult for the home team. PSV had a lot of the ball on half of Sparta, but could hardly reach big odds. The Rotterdammers did become dangerous in the changeover.
At rest, however, the glasses stand were still on the board. After the break, PSV grew stronger. On behalf of the home team, Eran Zahavi and substitute Carlos Vinícius were given enormous opportunities. They were all caught by Okoye, who kept Sparta alive with incredible rescues.
This allowed visitors to dream of a result in the Philips Stadium for a long time. In the 82nd minute, however, Sangaré popped that dream. The Ivorian lashed out from outside the sixteen, after which Okoye couldnt save: 1-0.
The goal caused a lot of relief at PSV. The Eindhovenaren then thundered: four minutes later Ryan Thomas doubled the margin after a good action and pass by Cody Gakpo. Sparta did make the hookup target in the ninetieth minute, after André Ramalho went wrong.
So, in the end, PSV won 2-1 from Sparta. In doing so, Roger Schmidt
s team takes full advantage of Ajax and Feyenoords points loss: the gap with the Amsterdammers is one more point, while PSV now has three points more than Feyenoord. The Stadium Club does have another game credit.
