PSV sees Smits (20) going to Wolfsburg for a transfer fee: “A milestone”

Joëlle Smits (20) will leave PSV after this season. VfL Wolfsburg has bought the contract from the Dutch national team. This is a first: never before has a player of PSV Vrouwen been bought away from Eindhoven.

Smits has been playing at PSV since February 2019. Now she will be picked up by Wolfsburg. “This is a milestone for PSV Women”, says Sandra Doreleijers, Manager Womens Football of PSV, on the club site of PSV. “We are enormously proud of Joëlle and happy to see that the policy that the club has put in place is paying off alongside the pitch”
“I am proud that a club of this calibre has so much confidence in me”, Smits responds. “It suits me personally to be able to give this clarity now. Of course I am looking forward to the switch, but at the same time my focus is entirely on PSV Women. I want to leave the club with some great performances before I leave for VfL Wolfsburg”
Wolfsburg has another Dutchman under contract with Dominique Janssen.

Joëlle Smits will make a transfer to @VfLWob_Frauen at the end of this season. Smits will be the first woman to make the transfer from PSV to a foreign club for a transfer fee. A milestone for PSV Women! ð#TheSmitsStoryhttps://t.co/ozlLCT2d8K
