PSV trumped Club Brugge: ‘I thought they lay my footballing better ‘

Club Brugge is increasingly committed to youth and hopes to see great Belgian talents break through at the club. Sometimes it also tries to take some talents away from other clubs. Fedde Leysen was one of them, but that plan turned out to be unsuccessful. He went to PSV.
Leysen was known as a particularly great talent in youth and came out for Oud-Heverlee Leuven at the age of fifteen. There he played himself in the spotlight of quite a few clubs, including Club Brugge. At Het Belang van Limburg, Leysen reveals that Blauw-Zwart also tried to bring him into the house.
However, the defender did not choose the Belgian national champion, but went to PSV, where he now comes out for the Jong team in the Kitchen Champion Division. “I thought that PSV is better for me playing football. I was also able to stay at home. Eindhoven is still a lot closer to Geel than Bruges,” he says.
Leysen is still closely monitored at our southern neighbors, because national coach Jacky Mathijssen selected him for Young Belgium.
