Mino Raiola gives up on his client Erling Braut Haaland. According to the influential agent, only a select group of clubs has a chance to capture the reigning Golden Boy winner.
Haaland broke through with Red Bull Salzburg in 2019, moved to Borussia Dortmund in early 2020 and continues to amaze the football world: on Saturday he made his 42nd and 43rd in the Kohlenpott-derby against Schalke 04 (!) hit in 43 matches on behalf of BVB. “He will be one of the stars of the next decade,” said Raiola in conversation with the BBC. “Stars like Messi, Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic come to an age, which makes us wonder: how long can we enjoy them? And so everyone is looking at the new generation.”
So one of the exponents of this new generation is Haaland: the twenty-year-old Norwegian is still stuck in Dortmund until mid-2024, but would be available for a buy-off sum of 75 million euros in 2022. “There are up to ten clubs that can afford to get him. And four of them play in the Premier League”, says Raiola, however. “And I can not imagine that anyone is not interested. There isn‘t one Formula One team that doesn’t want Lewis Hamilton in his stable, is there?”
Therefore, Raiola is not afraid of disappointing transfer revenues as a result of the coronacrisis. “I don‘t think one is related to the other. There’s always room for this kind of extraordinary players.”
