Real Madrid is starting to steam in the Primera Division and has put the competition at a distance. The Royal booked his fifth consecutive league win in the catch-up game with Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday evening, courtesy of vedette Karim Benzema.
Carlo Ancelotti‘s team was dethroned last season by city mate Atlético Madrid, but is on its way to claim the title again in La Liga this season. The last league defeat dates back to the beginning of October and Athletic Bilbao also failed to get The Royal Small.
At the moment of rest, the difference was made by the home team. Marco Asensio tried it from the second line, goalkeeper Unai Simón saved, after which Luka Modric seemed to hit the ball wrong in the aftershot. However, the Croat provided an — seemingly unintentional — assist on Benzema, who was in the right place to pull the trigger: 1-0.
The final offensive of the Basques earned nothing more and Real Madrid gets 36 points out of fifteen games. Atlético does it with seven points less, but still has a game credit. Number three Real Sociedad is the same as the title holder and has played as many matches as Real Madrid.
Who is in the right place there again? 🧐 Of course it’s Karim Benzema! 🔥 The super striker puts the Madrians ahead against Athletic Club ✅ #ZiggoSport #LaLiga #RealMadridAthleticClub pic.twitter.com/ZC43WCcqqO
