Real Madrid thanks French duo and puts pressure on townmate Atlético after slipping

Real Madrid has stepped up the pressure on city-mate Atlético Madrid in the Spanish title race. The day after the leader at home tampered with Celta de Vigo, Real Madrid did get the full loot against Getafe.

The division of tasks in the Estadio Alfredo Di Stéfano was clear: Real Madrid made the game, Getafe stopped. However, Zinedine Zidane‘s team could not express his field balance in the score. Karim Benzema hit the bar and Casemiro and Luka Modric failed to pass David Soria either.
The same goalkeeper continued for a quarter of an hour after rest, but then had to fish twice in a short time. Both Real Madrid hits were French: after an hour of play, Karim Benzema entered the opening hit, and six minutes later Ferland Mendy slipped into a cross of Marcelo, after setting up the attack himself.

With those 1-0 and 2-0, the difference was made in Madrid. The Koninklijke was able to finish the match without worries and comes to five points from Atlético. However, Los Rojiblancos still have two matches. Real Madrid is already disabled in the Copa del Rey and gets relatively quiet in the coming time: Valencia home on Sunday, Real Valladolid out on Saturday 20 February and then the Champions League meeting with Atalanta Bergamo will follow on February 24.
