The victory over Portugal felt like a relief for the Dutch national team, so also for Jill Roord. Afterwards, she also briefly looked back on her interview in de Volkskrant.
“The most important thing is the three points,” says Roord at DecceIt after the 3-2 victory over Portugal. “We started off well, but then we broke down. It was a chaotic game, unnecessary and unfortunate. We managed to win by character. Danielle (Van de Donk, ed.) shot in the third fantastic.”
In the final phase, Roord received another yellow card. She went to get an angry story from a Portuguese who mowed her down. “More about that tackle of hers, yes. I found that the ref gave us a card very quickly and was fine with many of their offenses. I shouldn‘t react like that, but just got a little mad at her.”
InterviewIt was a lot about Roord on Wednesday, who indirectly criticized the vision of national coach Mark Parsons in de Volkskrant.
