Relive exciting qualification for the Eifel Grand Prix

Max Verstappen will start third at the Eifel Grand Prix on Sunday. The 23-year-old Dutchman had to tolerate the Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas (1st) and Lewis Hamilton (2) during the qualification in the final part. Our reporter Erik van Haren is in Germany and made the most important updates from the track on the Nรผrburgring. Relive the qualification below.

Bottas recorded the fastest time on the cold, but sunny circuit around noon in free training. A day earlier, both workouts did not go through because of the dense fog. Verstappen was then almost seven tenths of a second slower than the Finn and thus recorded the fourth time in free training.

Hamilton recorded the second time in the practice session after he had to stop earlier quick attempts, including after a spider by Nicholas Latifi. Verstappen was also bothered by that. Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) rushed somewhat surprisingly to the third spot, just half a second from Bottas.
