Renovated Hamilton wants to make a return this weekend at final race in Abu Dhabi

Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton says he has recovered from the coronavirus and wants to reinstate this weekend at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The Mercedes leader, who won his seventh world title last month, said that in a social media video message.

โ€œ It was one of the toughest weeks Ive seen in a long time,โ€ the British said. โ€œI focused on my recovery and try to get back in shape so I can race the final race in Abu Dhabi. I feel good, so I have a positive message for you.โ€

In order to leave Bahrain and enter Abu Dhabi, Hamilton must be able to submit a negative corontest. He may also have to be quarantined for 48 hours before he can ride the track.

Race from the hotel room

Hamilton had to go into isolation last weekend because of a positive corontest and was forced to look at the Grand Prix of Sakhir in his hotel room. His replacement George Russell drove to the head, but he became ninth due to a failed pit stop and a flat tire.

Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff said Monday that doctors expect Hamilton to make it to the last GP of the year. Should there be a hitch in the cable, Russell is his replacement again.
