Reprise Kinky Boots again does not go through

The reprise of the musical Kinky Boots has been canceled. The production was supposed to return to the theatres in June, but because of the current situation around the coronavirus, producer duo Hans Cornelissen and Ruud de Graaf decided to cancel the tour.

โ€œ We cant assume with certainty that June next year the situation in the theatres will return to normal, which is a requirement for a big show like Kinky Bootsโ€, says Cornelissen on Instagram on Monday. โ€œIn addition, a number of players in important roles in the planned period have now opted for other productions. So we can only make a realistic decision again and therefore take this knot now.โ€

Kinky Boots had to stop abruptly last year because of the coronacrisis and would return again this year in June. โ€œWe experienced the forced termination of the Kinky Boots tour in March last year as a very bitter pill. With this new title for the Netherlands we stuck our necks out. And happy with success.โ€

In the short term, the producers focus on theatre shows that can also be done with 1.5 meters away. There are also major productions such as The Rocky Horror Show and Titanic planned for later. โ€œWe will always remember Kinky Boots with great pleasure and pride. Thank you all again and be who you want to be.โ€
