RKC Waalwijk escapes defeat to Go Ahead thanks to VAR

RKC Waalwijk and Go Ahead Eagles shared the points on Saturday night. It turned 0-0.
The first danger of RKC came from Jens Odgaard, but it was Go Ahead that took the lead in Waalwijk. Ragnar Oratmangoen gave a good cross from the left and Iñigo Córdoba tapped up close after walking away from his personal guards. RKC had a lot of possession, but did little with it. Go Ahead had little trouble staying afloat. The Deventer club got away twice well before rest.
After rest, RKC came to an equal level. Referee Erwin Blank pointed to the dot after Saïd Bakkari shot at Joris Kramer‘s hands. Alexander Büttner took advantage of the subsequent penalty. It was then fairly tame from both sides.
Trainers Joseph Oosting and Kees van Wonderen tried to drag another victory out of the fire with some changes. It seemed that Go Ahead was going to want, but the VAR ruled that Isac Lidberg was violating RKC goalkeeper Etiënne Vaesen. And so his hit didn’
t go ahead.
There is only a point of difference between the two clubs in the rankings.
