Trainer Ronald Koeman of Barcelona, after the beautiful victory at Seville (0-2), denied that he had a collision with his attacker Antoine Griezmann.
The French international remained on the bank in southern Spain. Koeman didn‘t need him as a changeling either. This fueled the rumors in the Spanish media that Griezmann is currently not so good with the former coach of Orange.
According to Koeman, however, there is no diminished relationship with Griezmann. “It was a tactical choice to put him on the bank and certainly not intended as a measure against him,” assured the former international. “We wanted to bring more depth and speed in addition to Messi in the team and that’s why we decided to give Dembélé a base place. That worked out well. But Griezmann certainly had no punishment.”
Griezmann can make his return on Wednesday at Camp Nou. Barcelona will play again against Seville in the semi-finals of the Spanish Cup tournament. The Koeman team has to make up for a 2-0 gap. In any case, the competition win in Seville caused optimism in the Barcelona camp.
“ We have shown that we are still alive as a team,” Koeman stressed. “I am proud of our way of playing and the physical struggle we have fought. We played a complete game here.”
