Trainer Ronald Koeman won Dynamo Kiev with FC Barcelona in the Champions League with difficulty 2-1. The outstanding goalkeepers on both sides played the leading role in the game.
Frenkie de Jong – as central defender – and Sergiño Dest both started in the base. After four minutes, Barcelona got a penalty kick when Lionel Messi was laid down by Denys Popov. Messis third goal in the Champions League this season, all off the dot. It is also his fifth hit in total in 2020/2021, all from elfmeter. He hasnt made a field goal yet.
Shortly after that, the Catalans had to decide against the glorified B-team of Dynamo. In particular, the commitment of Antoine Griezmann – for open purpose – should have been included. It is still not a good marriage between the Frenchman and Barcelona. Koemans team could have made the difference in the initial phase.
Unbeatable Ter Stegen
In the sequel, Kiev managed to find the free man more often in the counter. Goalkeeper Marc-André ter Segen – after months of injury return to the base – had to take action several times. Especially in the 36th minute, he showed why Koeman likes him.
Also in the second half Ter Segen had to act, but the German closing post seemed almost unbeatable tonight. An equalizer would not have been undeserved at that time.
18-year-old goalkeeper Neshcheret steals show
But also Kiev- (reserve) goalkeeper Ruslan Neshcheret (18) showed himself several times in a positive way. So he nicely grabbed a free kick of Messi from the intersection. Neshcheret struggled again, but a headball by Gerard Piqué was
too powerful to him in the 65th minute: 2-0. It was the glittering goalkeepers game.
Yet he was knocked, although it had to be done through a rebound after another save of the German. Viktor Tsigankov made in the 75th minute the 2-1 and connection hit. Further than that, the team from Ukraine did not come any more.
Juventus in Hungary with 4-1 passing Ferencvaros
Juventus has won a trouble-free victory over Ferencvaros in the Champions League. In the Hungarian capital Budapest, it became 4-1 for the team from Turin.
For base player Cristiano Ronaldo, it was his first performance in the Champions League with Juventus this season. The Portuguese stood against Dinamo Kiev and Barcelona on the side because of a positive corontest. Last Sunday he made his return in the Italian Serie A.
Not Ronaldo but Álvaro Morata became the big man among the Italians. The Spanish striker scored twice and has now made four hits in the Champions League. Last week Morata also stood out in the match against Barcelona when he scored three times, but all times from the side position.
Paulo Dybala, the halfway through the second half before Morata joined the team, was secure. The Argentine punished two huge blunders of goalkeeper Dénes Dibusz among the Hungarians. In the latter situation, defender Lasha Dvali received the goal from the home team. He touched the ball last, even though the bet would have ended up in the goal without it. In the final phase, Invaller Franck Boli made an honorary reffer on behalf of Ferencvaros.
Through the victory Juventus remains in the footsteps of the still flawless Barcelona. The team of trainer Andrea Pirlo is second with 3 points behind the Catalans. Ferencvaros is at the bottom with 1 point.
