At the WTA tournament in Prague, Arantxa Rus scored a handsome 7-5, 6-2 win in the sixth-place Anastasia Pavljuchenkova.
At the reopening of the season last week in Sicily, Russian had no chance of winning the first round against Donna Vekic, after which she retaliated by winning the doubles with the Slovenian Tamara Zidansek in Palermo.
On the gravel in Prague the Delft number 70 of the world took a 5-1 lead in the first set against the 40 places higher ranked Russin. Russin also gave that lead away again (5-5), but with a third break she took the set.
The second set went up to 3-2 on service, after which Russian broke the storage of Pavljuchenkova twice in a row. With a love game she then made it out.
