Ryan Gravenberch doesn‘t know if he can compete with Ajax on Wednesday in the cup tournament against AZ. The creator of the only goal of Ajax in the home duel with Feyenoord (1-0) has again suffered from his back.
“ I have been suffering from my lower back for years,” said the 18-year-old Amsterdammer. “But in the first half it got worse and worse now. That’s why I asked for a change in peace. If I‘d played through, it would get worse and maybe I’ll be out longer. I want to get rid of it as soon as I can, but it keeps coming back. It goes away slowly and then it comes up again. The last few weeks have bothered me more and now it was the straw.”
Gravenberch is not the only question mark at Ajax before the cup duel with AZ. Ten Hag also exchanged against Feyenoord Noussair Mazraoui, Sébastien Haller and Antony because they were no longer fit. He hopes that Neres Wednesday in Alkmaar will be able to make some minutes again for the first time since the beginning of December. “If we had come up with 3-0 against Feyenoord, I would have brought him by now,” he said. “Because we need him.”
