Saved by the Bell star Screech seriously ill

Dustin Diamond, who played Screech in the popular American nineties series Saved by the Bell, has cancer. The 44-year-old actor has started chemotherapy.

A spokesman for Diamond tells TMZ that the actor felt a lump in his neck. Later in the hospital, where the actor was hospitalized last weekend, it turned out that the cancer has spread to the rest of his body. The doctors immediately started treatment.

Diamond is the only cast member from the original series not featured in the reboot of hit series Saved by the Bell currently broadcast in the United States on streaming service Peacock. After the end of the sitcom, and the successor The College Years, the actor didnt get many roles anymore. However, he performed sporadically as a stand-up comedian.

The actor

released the book Behind The Bell in 2009, in which he came up with stories about things that would have taken place behind the scenes of the comedy. He expressed himself rather disregarded about his former colleagues. Later, however, he admitted that many of the stories were not true or greatly exaggerated.

Six years later, he was sentenced to four months in prison for his part in a bar fight in which someone was stabbed.
