Schalke presents successor Gross and appoints fifth trainer of this season

The fifth trainer of Schalke 04 this season is known. Dimitrios Grammozis signed a contract with Die Königsblauen until mid-2022. He‘s following the dismissed Christian Gross.

Schalke’s announcing this through official channels. The 42-year-old Grammozis is after David Wagner, Manuel Baum, Huub Stevens and Gross the fifth trainer to try to keep Schalke in the Bundesliga. We are convinced that he is the right man for the last part of this season, says Peter Knäbel on behalf of the Schalke management.
With eleven duels to play, Schalke is the last one in the Bundesliga. There‘s a heavy job waiting for the team to avoid degradation. If it is not possible to achieve body preservation, that does not matter to Grammozis. He will also be a trainer for the group next season in Gelsenkirchen. Grammozis has as head coach only experience at Darmstadt 98, active in the Second Bundesliga.
Schalke decided to fire several people last Sunday. In addition to trainer Gross, his assistant Rainer Widmayer, team manager Sascha Riether, fitness trainer Werner Leuthard and technical director Jochen Schneider were put on the street.
