Schalke sees defender leaving for Liverpool and picks up Mustafi at Arsenal

Enough transfer spectacle at Schalke 04 on Deadline Day. The team from Gelsenkirchen sees central defender Ozan Kabak leaving for Liverpool just before the transfer deadline and immediately picks up a replacement. Shkodran Mustafi comes across transfer-free from Arsenal.

That confirms Schalke 04 through official channels. Kabak needs to ease the defensive concerns at Liverpool, now that Virgil van Dijk, Joël Mip and Joe Gomez are not operational in the coming period. Previously, Liverpool presented Preston North End defender Ben Davies (25), while Sepp van den Berg left for Preston on a rental basis. Kabak is rented and Liverpool can take over him after this season for an amount of about 20 million euros.
Schalke immediately recruited a replacement for Kabak. Die Königsblauen take Mustafi transfer-free from Arsenal. The central defender signed a contract until the end of the season in the Veltins-Arena.
