Schreuder sees severely injured PEC defender slowly become competitive fit

Sam Kersten is well on his way to making his official return to PEC Zwolle. The defender was on the side with a serious knee injury for over nine months.
The former defender of FC Den Bosch suffered the injury in the Eredivisie game with Fortuna Sittard in January. He is now making minutes again, although an official return to the Kitchen Champion Division does not seem to be an issue this Friday. He‘s not there yet, his focus is still on playing in exhibition matches, says Zwolle trainer Dick Schreuder in conversation with RTV Oost.
When Kersten has fully recovered from the injury, a question mark remains. We don’
t know that. In the last match against Suriname (5-0 victory), we saw that it is still tough for him. That is also quite normal. For him, the best victory is that he has no complaints about his knee at all. Friday evening, leader Zwolle resumed the competition with a match against Jong Ajax. The kick-off is at 8 pm.
