Schuurs, Ihattaren and Wijndal debut in final Orange selection

Perr Schuurs, Mohamed Ihattaren and Owen Wijndal are in the final selection of the Dutch national team for the first time. Interim-bond coach Dwight Lodeweges announced the list of names for the Nations League games of the Dutch Team against Poland (4 September) and Italy (7 September).

Pröpper is not quite fit and missing for that reason. Matthijs de Ligt is absent from the selection because he is recovering from a shoulder operation.

Shed replacement Blind

Lodeweges explains why he selected the relatively inexperienced Ajacied Schuurs, who was mainly on the reserve bench last season.

“Maybe it’s a bit early, but Daley Blind also dropped out, so we need a replacement for that”, Lodeweges explained on the website of the KNVB.

The Nations League matches of the Netherlands will be finished in the Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam, without an audience and both start at 20.45 hrs.

Players of the Dutch national team do not have to be quarantined if they return to the Netherlands from ‘orange’ territory for the matches in Nations League. That was confirmed by the Minister for Sport Tamara of Ark Friday afternoon.

By Van Ark’s decision, interim union coach Dwight Lodeweges is able to make the strongest possible position for the interlands against Poland and Italy, despite the corona-measures.
