Sony suddenly changed its mind to close the PS Store for PS3 and PS Vita, as previously reported. According to Sony Interactive Entertainment President Jim Ryan, this decision was wrong : We recently notified players that we planned to disable PlayStation access Store on PS3 and PS Vita devices this summer. However, after further reflection, we came to the conclusion that we had made the wrong decision.
Jim Ryan The original decision was driven by a number of factors, including security difficulties. The firm assumed the players would not be so keen to further support the stores — but got it wrong.
We have noticed that many of you would like to continue buying classic PS3 and PS Vita games in the near future, so Im glad we were able to find a solution that will allow us continue to support the purchase functions. Jim RyanClosure will only befall the store for PSP – it, as planned earlier, will turn off on July 2.
