A prototype of a SpaceX missile, intended for missions to Mars, exploded during a landing attempt after a test flight Tuesday. In December, a Starship test missile in a fireball had also ended in a failed landing.
“ We had another great flight,” said a SpaceX announcer on live footage broadcast online. “We still have to work on that landing,” he added.
The missile was approved for launch from Boca Chica (Texas) by the US Aviation Authority FAA. He had recently established that the previous launch was contrary to the terms of the consent.
The rocket, as high as a sixteen story flat, was designed to transport people and 100 tons of cargo for missions to Mars and the Moon. SpaceX is a project by billionaire Elon Musk, including the boss of Tesla.
