Emanuel Emegha will never forget Friday night‘s match against Vitesse. The attacker scored his first goal in the shirt of Sparta Rotterdam and dedicates it to a deceased teammate, Ousmane Kader Kone.
After his goal, Emegha was given a shirt, on which he can be seen together with that teammate. The Sparta attacker explains his action after the match. “This one is for my late teammate. In 2016, he drowned during a team outing. I have never forgotten that and I will never forget it,” he says in conversation with DeccEit.

“I wanted to make my first goal for him,” continued Emegha not much later at ESPN. “I‘ve been close to a goal quite often, I found it hard not to make it. Now it was finally the moment,” continues the Sparta attacker, who fights the tears. “Too bad… You should be happy with what you have. I’m still standing here, I could have been,” concludes Emegha.
