Sparta is going to sell Okoye

Sparta is going to lose Maduka Okoye at the end of this season. Premier League club Watford has already incorporated the Nigerian goalkeeper and is reportedly going to transfer approximately seven million euros to Rotterdam.
Okoye had no complaining about interest last summer, but then surprisingly extended his contract. According to the Algemeen Dagblad, Watford now has to deposit about seven million euros to buy off the contract from the closing post until 2025. Okoye solves Marvin Emnes, sold to Middlesbrough in 2008 for four million euros, as the most expensive outgoing Sparta transfer.
Sparta director Henk van Stee is satisfied with the transfer. โ€œLast summer, we broke up his contract until 2025, but both parties knew that a premature departure would be very real,โ€ he says via the Sparta channels. โ€œWhen Premier League clubs (PhD student Watford stands after eleven rounds of seventeenth, ed.) show interest, it becomes very difficult for both the club, player and agent to postpone a transfer. Then it is for us to get the best possible conditions out for Sparta and that has succeeded in our eyes.โ€
Okoye came over transfer-free from Fortuna Dรผsseldorf in 2020 and soon drove Benjamin van Leer under the bar. In his first Eredivisie season, he immediately accounted for ten clean sheets, on Saturday against William II managed to keep zero for the first time this season.
