Vitesse has in-house stunt against Tottenham Hotspur. Thomas Letschs team was stronger and managed to turn it into a victory, by a bang by Maximilian Wittek. However, The Spurs played with a B-team in Arnhem.
Before meeting with Vitesse, Tottenham trainer Nuno Espírito left big names like Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son, Hugo Lloris and Sergio Reguilón at home. The English did perform at the Gelredome with former PSV player Steven Bergwijn and ex-Ajacied Davinson Sánchez. Vitesse played in his strongest lineup.
Vitesse had little trouble with Tottenham in the first half. The Arnhemmers didnt give away great opportunities. Vitesse himself did not make the opening target either, leaving the glasses stand on the scoreboard after 45 minutes.
After the break, Tottenham became dangerous for the first time. Vitesse goalie Markus Schubert saw a shot of Giovani Lo Celso splashing on the bar. Then the number six of the Premier League seized the initiative again. Vitesse came close to the 1-0 a number of times, but Loïs Openda and Eli Dasa did not score.
In the 78th minute it was finally hit for Vitesse. Wittek took the ball on the edge of the sixteen on the volley, after which the ball flew low and hard behind goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini: 1-0, and the goal blew the Gelredome.
After the opening target, Vitesse continued to attack. That was a few good chances, but the home team couldnt score any more. The same was true for Tottenham, making Vitesse a surprising win at the Premier League number five. Vitesse is now in a handsome second place in Conference League Group G.
