Stalker Taylor Swift gets 30 months in jail

A federal judge sentenced Taylor Swift‘s stalker to 30 months in prison after he confessed to stalking and sending threatening letters. That is what Forbes reports.

The letters and e-mails the stalker sent to Taylor Swift’s former label, Big Machine Records in Nashville. That was also where the hearing was held where the sentence was imposed. Yet the punishment was no surprise: the conditions had already been met in 2019.

The label received the letters as of January 2018. It was to be at least forty letters that became increasingly violent and sexual. The stalker drove at least three times from his home in Austin, Texas, to Nashville to deliver the letters in person. When he did so again on 2 August, he was arrested by the Nashville police. When he was later released, he remained on the label of contacts, in which he expressed the wish to ‘rape and murder the singer. He also threatened to kill himself in front of the label director and his staff.

In 2019 Taylor Swift already announced that she had enough stalkers trying to break into her house, because her home addresses are often published. “My fear of violence now reigns constantly in my personal life. I always carry my army bandages with me, for wounds caused by bullets or stabbings. You start to prepare yourself for bad things that can happen.”
