Kasper Dolberg took the lead role during Denmark-Wales and was allowed to report for the cameras at the end of the EC-contest. The ex-Ajax song in Amsterdam accounted for two goals against Wales: the Danes eventually won 4-0 and reached the quarterfinals of the European Championships.
The ‘Star of the Match’ played a home game in several ways: the Johan Cruijff Arena, not unknown to Dolberg, was filled with Danish supporters. “Exactly, we felt that as soon as we walked in. We saw all those red shirts and stuff,” OGC Nice striker told beIN Sports. “It did feel like a home game. And that in this stadium… This is very special to me, fantastic.”
Dolberg got his first chance at the base during the European Championships on Saturday: Yussuf Poulsen was the first rush hour during the pool phase, but was missing due to injury. “Of course, it always helps when you score, but it was very easy to join this team. This is such a strong group and I am proud to be part of this.”
The Danes have been the first EC-participant for the quarterfinals and will give acte de présence in Baku on 3 July. The opponent comes from the Netherlands-Czech Republic match.
