Statues against racism and discrimination revealed in New York

Three statues have been unveiled in the American city of New York. They are heads of three people who are important in the fight against racism and discrimination: John Lewis, Breonna Taylor and George Floyd.

John Lewis has been committed to equality in the United States for over 60 years. Breonna Taylor and George Floyd hit the news a lot last year. They were both killed by extreme police brutality.

Black Lives Matter

After the deaths of van Breonna Taylor and George Floyd, thousands of people took to the streets to protest police brutality. Protests were also in the Netherlands. In addition, the English words Black Lives Matter were often used.

The statues revealed are part of an exhibition. The creator hopes that people continue to talk about this topic.

George Floyds brother was also at the unveiling of the statues.

The statues can be seen throughout October.
