Britney Spears‘ lawyer has formally requested the judge to permanently replace her father as a curator of her personal life. The American pop star has been under strict financial and personal supervision since 2008 because of psychological problems.
Her father was formerly both the manager of the singer’s fortune and the supervisor of her personal life. For health reasons, Jamie Spears dropped that second part in 2019 and Jodi Montgomery was appointed personal curator of his daughter. The 39-year-old artist now wants Montgomery to replace her father permanently.
Spears has previously reported through her lawyer that she is afraid of her father and that she will not return on stage as long as he controls her life. In the long term, she hopes to manage everything independently again, says in the submitted legal documents.
Earlier this year, the pop star came in the news through the documentary Framing Britney Spears. There was a lot of criticism of the way in which the singer was treated in the media at a young age. Among others Ivo Niehe came under fire because he had asked the then 17-year-old artist in a TV interview about plastic surgery on her breasts.
