Sudden goalkeeper change at the Orange: “There I was suddenly, then I had to fill in”

The 22-year-old Daphne van Domselaar only made her international debut this year, but suddenly had to be there at the European Championships on Saturday. The keeper of FC Twente saw colleague Sari van Veenendaal being injured against Sweden and, according to his own words, had no time to be nervous.
Van Veenendaal was already battered after a collision with Lynn Wilms and Stefanie van der Gragt and had to stop the battle after 22 minutes. It started as a very quiet day, just doing the warm-up, sitting on the bench as a second goalkeeper, said replacement Van Domselaar talking to DecceIt. Of course I would be ready at any time and suddenly there I was, then I had to fill in. It went fast.
Van Domselaar put ‘the button’ and immediately merged into the competition. Although she had to take one hit by Jonna Andersson, she was able to look back on a successful final debut. Personally, I have the feeling that I was able to show myself and be important to the team. I think that 1-1 was a good result in the end.
Thanks to a hit by Jill Roord, the Dutch opened the European Championships with a 1-1 draw against Sweden. Wednesday is the next game against Portugal.
