AS Roma suffered a shameful defeat in the eighth final of the Coppa Italia. Spezia, low flyer in Serie A, won at the Stadio Olimpico after extension with 4-2 and can call himself quarter-finalist.
AS Roma – Spezia 2-4 (after extension) Within fifteen minutes Roma, the current number four of Serie A, was already at a 2-0 lag against Spezia. Andrey Galabinov and Riccardo Saponara hit the target for the guests, where Jeroen Zoet sat on the couch. Yet the Romans came back: Lorenzo Pellegrini and Henrik Mkhitaryan made it 2-2. That was it after ninety minutes and so it had to be extended.
In it came Roma, where Rick Karsdorp fell in after 69 minutes, within two minutes with nine (!) man to stand. Gianluca Mancini and goalkeeper Pau Lopez both got red and then there was no more holding for the Giallorossi, who were kicked out of the cup tournament by goals of Daniele Verde (2-3) and again Saponara (2-4).
Deportivo Alavés – Sevilla 1-2Al after three minutes, Youssef En-Nesyri, the striker that keeps De Jong on the couch, had already found the net. The Moroccan tapped a front from the right up close and thus he put his team ahead in the north of Spain. They couldn‘t enjoy it for long, because Édgar Méndez made the 1-1 nine minutes later.
Yet Seville straightened its back. After half an hour of play, Suso hit goal with a fabulous distance shot and that goal was Alavés too powerful. The home team then made every effort to find out another equalizer. They were better for the whole second half and even in injury time, but Yassine Bono took it and secured three points for his team. In the half hour that De Jong participated, he couldn’t impress.
RSC Anderlecht – Sporting Charleroi 3-0Lang seemed to Michel Vlap on his way to the exit at Anderlecht, but in the home match against Charleroi the Frisian has finally made itself speak in a positive sense. Felix Nmecha and Francis Amuzu also scored for Purple White.
