Tour de France winner Tadej Pogacar represents Slovenia in the road race on Sunday at the World cycling championships in Imola, Italy.
Primoz Roglic, the leader of Jumbo-Visma who, after a memorable turn in the individual time trial on Saturday, had to settle for second place in the Tour behind his young compatriot, is also in the race.
Pogacar and Roglic will be assisted by Janez Brajkovic, Luka Mezgec, Domen Novak, Luka Pibernik, Jan Polanc and Jan Tratnik during the 258.2 kilometre road trip.
I don’t know the route yet, but I have heard that it is very difficult, said 22-year-old Pogacar. I love a course like that. It will be a difficult race anyway. I hope for the best and we will probably have a strong Slovenian block. We’ll see what opportunities there are Tratnik will also ride the individual time trial on Friday.
