FC Twente may call itself a leader in the top division. The formation of Ron Jans hit a sloppy FC Groningen with 3-1 and has now collected seven points out of three duels.
Twente was the better one in the first half and seemed to get ahead of it after twelve minutes via Vaclav Cerny. However, the arbitration found sidelined and the VAR, after a long delay, finally came to that conclusion.
FC Groningen trainer Danny Buijs got quite excited about that situation afterwards:
Cerny was not disappointed and benefited from a mistake by Groningen defender Wessel Dammers. Goalkeeper Sergio Padt had no answer to the diagonal shot of the Czech.
After a short dangerous phase of Groningen, with opportunities for Jørgen Strand Larsen and Dammers (twice rescue of Joël Drommel), Twente picked up the thread again. Danilo scored Cerny’s report after a faulty ball from Padt.
