Without a host of world stars, Dohas athletics world has ended the Diamond League season. Because of the long flight and the severe corona measures, many top players did not see a performance in the Qatari capital. Dafne Schippers, who initially planned to start on the 100 meters in Doha, had unsubscribed because of back problems.
One of Schippers most important rivals, Olympic champion Elaine Thompson, was part of the party. With a time of 10.87, the Jamaican won the sprint and left behind the other favorite, Marie-Josée Ta Lou (11.21).
At the 800 meters, Kenyan Faith Kipyegon surprised himself and everyone. The reigning Olympic champion in the 1,500 meters managed to leave the competition behind on the 800 meters. With 1.57.68 she set a personal record and set the best time of this season on the chronometers.
