The largest U.S. tech companies, including Apple, Facebook, Google and Microsoft have joined in a lawsuit against President Donald Trump. The companies want foreigners to be able to obtain a visa again to work temporarily in the United States.
The Trump government put a stop to temporary work visas in June. In their own words, to protect the American worker who was hit by the coronacrisis.
But the tech companies say that the measure hits the American economy hard. Also, it could worsen relations with other countries, is stated in the submitted documents on behalf of 52 companies. According to the companies there is not enough supply in the US of the highly educated workers they are looking for.
Google says that immigrants brought technological progress and created more jobs in the US. Apple director Tim Cook is deeply disappointed with the visa stop and hopes that it will be reversed.
