Ten Hag kicks on the brakes at Ajax: “There is definitely something at stake”

Ajax is already a group winner, but according to trainer Erik ten Hag is going full swing against Sporting Portugal. The Amsterdammers want to get through the group phase indemnity.
There is certainly something at stake, says Ten Hag after the 1-2 win over Besiktas against RTL7. This trainer doesnt like friendly football and we have to win everything. In that last game, too, we have to go full for it. A motivation can still be that we can improve the highest number of points Ajax has ever achieved in the group phase. Thats sixteen now, but we need to improve that.
Sébastien Haller made the difference against Besiktas as a substitute. I am delighted that a substitute has this effect. This makes Haller an example for the rest of the selection. Players who can bring this effect from the couch, we need in our roster, says Ten Hag.
Ten Hag acknowledges that Ajax played a bad first half in Istanbul. Or that was because there were six spare players in the field? That could be, but nevertheless, we had the upper hand and we also created the opportunities in the first half. In the alignment, something just went wrong occasionally. That is very clear to the team, we have rules for that. Especially on the right side, the organization was not always good and Besiktas came through a number of times. It wasnt always good in the residual defense either. We have agreements about that, but we have to keep up with them.
