Ten Hag: ‘Young Orange is actually the Young Ajax of two years ago’

Erik ten Hag is prepared to give youth players from Ajax a chance, provided they show that they are ready for it. The bar is high, emphasizes the Ajax coach.

“If they are good, present themselves and develop, you have to make room for them. Ajax has been very successful in this in recent years,” says Ten Hag at the press conference. “The requirement is the Champions League, so the bar is high. Then its not easy to get players to move on, but weve succeeded every year”
Ten Hag comes up with examples. “Mazraoui became the basic player and Dest a year later. At the moment Gravenberch is playing. When I look at the Dutch Junior Team, its actually the Jong Ajax of Michael and Winston (Traveller and Bogarde, trainers duo, ed.) from two years ago”
“That indicates that the training of Ajax is simply top-notch. The last part of the development happens at Jong Ajax and Ajax 1. If they show that development and potential, we have to make room for it”
