Terror suspect arrested in Greece at the request of the Netherlands

On Wednesday, at the request of the Dutch Public Prosecutors Office (OM), the Greek police arrested a 33-year-old Syrian asylum seeker from Sliedrecht. He is suspected of participating in a terrorist organization.

The defendant has a Dutch residence permit. Research showed that the man in Syria participated in the jihadist struggle. According to the news agency Reuters, he was alleged to be a member of al-Nusra, a Syrian group with ties to al-Qaeda and also guilty of trafficking in human beings.

The man was in a Greek refugee camp during his arrest. The man is in prison and the Rotterdam Department has requested his surrender. He is handed over to the Netherlands, reported the Greek police Friday.
