The 23 minutes of Piet: curious return and exit of Velthuizen

It is already one of the most remarkable stories of the Eredivisie season 2020/2021: the short return of Piet Velthuizen in the Eredivisie. Fortuna Sittard threatened to be without goalkeepers and strict the club-blush Velthuizen, who – not quite top fit – immediately started the duel with FC Groningen. After 23 minutes the party was over again: the singular Orange-International was already injured in the warm-up, grabbed next to a pair of high balls and had to drop off after a failed kickoff.
Alexei Koselev had to fill in and Fortuna lost by 1-0. That same Koselev could still sail against PSV on Sunday, but then leaves for Jubilo Iwata in Japan. Fortuna plays a week later against VVV-Venlo: whether trainer Sjors Ultee can have Velthuizen or first choice Yanick van Osch, is still waiting to see.
