Heracles Almelo has been relegated to the Kitchen Champion Division. After a 3-0 defeat in the first match against Excelsior, interim trainer René Kolmschot‘s team started a virtually impossible task in house. Despite a brief upswing, Heracles was unable to provide a stunt: 1-3.
From the start, it was clearly visible that the Heracmen were fighting for their last chance. A good solo by Luca de la Torre was just not walked in and a concealed cross by Bilal Basacikoglu hit the bar. Three times was the right to fly: Sinan Bakis promoted a well-tailored head cross to a goal.
The Erve Asito joined the team and suddenly a miracle did not seem unthinkable. Although Kenzo Gold Mine hit the post on behalf of Excelsior, again Bakis and Noah Fadiga were close to the second Heracles hit. Immediately after the break, the home team received the final blow, when Thijs Dallinga took care of the equaliser. The team decided to play one on one and play all-or-nothing early on, resulting in another Kralingse hit. Mats Wieffer was the celebrated man on the Excelsior side and ended all Heracles illusions.
In the final phase, Nikolas Agrafiotis sprinkled additional salt in the Almelose wounds on Chouhaib Driouech’s report. Shortly afterwards, the game was marred by Heracles fans who threw fireworks. The game was stopped for a while, but the injury time was completed. Almost nothing happened in that.
90. Now also fireworks on the field. Part of the supporters misbehaves completely. Edwin van de Graaf is discussing whether we can go further at all. #herexc 1-3 (1-6)

Heracles played continuously in the Eredivisie since 2005, but was sentenced to second level after seventeen years. Excelsior will meet ADO Den Haag in the final of the playoffs, which eliminated FC Eindhoven earlier on Saturday.
Over and out for @HeraclesAlmelo… ✖️ Mats Wieffer heads in the 1-2, which means that the home team now has to score 4x for overtime 😳 #herexc #DeOntknoping pic.twitter.com/gQRpYxT6Z5
