Kenny Tete hopes to be active at the European Championships this summer. One advantage might be that Frank de Boer is the national coach. Tete and De Boer know each other from their joint period at Ajax.
“I know him a little,” jokes Tete at ESPN. “I havent spoken to him, but Im not thinking about that right now.” Tete now plays weekly with Fulham, which took him over from Olympique Lyon. “Im glad Im playing. When it comes, it comes. Secretly, I hope, but I have to play football first. Then it will come by itself.”
Tete is asked if a place in the EK selection is a formality if he keeps on doing so. “I dont know, Im afraid to say that. I hope so, I wouldnt want anything else. Im glad I play at Fulham every week and can develop. When I get in, Im ready. I cant wait, actually.”
Tete played thirteen interlands for the Dutch national team. The Netherlands – White Russia (4-0) was his last match.
