โ€œThe fact that Ajax is already champion doesn’t matter. Rivalry is too big for that’

After prolonged injury, Justin Bijlow is again under the bar at Feyenoord. The closing post looks forward to The Classical against Ajax next weekend and states that it does not matter for him that Ajax is already champion of the Eredivisie.
It is a striking statistic: Bijlow has already played more than fifty official duels in Feyenoord‘s shirt, but next Sunday’s De Classical will be the first match against Ajax he will play in his own Kuip. โ€œI‘m trying to stay calm. Of course, it’s a special competition, but I do the same things as alwaysโ€, says Bijlow in conversation with Studio Feyenoord.
A Classical remains a Classic, as Bijlow indicates. The fact that Ajax took the Eredivisie title against FC Emmen last week does not change that. โ€œWith my friends and family, the excitement will increase as the game gets closer. The fact that Ajax is already champion doesn‘t matter. The Classic is always a competition in itself. The rivalry is too great for that,โ€ says Bijlow.
The Feyenoord closing post has won four consecutive races, after his prolonged injury. โ€œI feel good, it’
s nice to play every week. I missed that feeling. I‘m a top athlete and always want to play. If that’s interrupted every time, it‘ll do something to you. I’ve always been confident that it would work out.โ€
