Nick Viergever is overjoyed to call himself a player of FC Utrecht. The defender signed a two-year contract in the Dom City on Monday.
Viergever was able to be picked up by Utrecht transfer-free after the relegation of Greuther Fürth. “It feels good. I know the stadium and am happy to play at FC Utrecht”, says Viergever via the official Utrecht channels.
“It was the big picture. Jordy (Zuidam, technical director ed.) tried to get me once when I was still at PSV. Then it didnt go through, now we got out pretty quickly. I had a conversation with the trainer (Henk Fraser, ed.) and Jordy. It felt good quickly,” says Viergever.
Viergever is indirectly the replacement of Willem Janssen at Utrecht, who stops after this season. “You see that well. We were looking for experiences within the team. Williams loss is great, but I think weve been responding well to that with Nick. He adds something extra to the selection.”
