The EUR 10 million paid by PSV for Timo Baumgartl is money thrown away. Wim Kieft concludes that in his weekly column for De Cceit. Baumgartl fell against Olympiakos completely through the ice.
Baumgartl had to replace Olivier Boscagli, but less than ten minutes after his incursion committed a painful blunder. And also in the 4-2 he was involved in a negative sense. Timo Baumgartl has no idea what he is doing and what is happening around him on the field, says Kieft.
“He walks around like a nature lover, who studies birds in the forest with binoculars around his neck. He doesnt win a duel and playing football he doesnt bring anything extra. His entry pass is of a sad level. The EUR 10 million, which was paid to VfB Stuttgart by PSV on the intercession of technical manager John de Jong and then trainer Mark van Bommel, is simply wasted money.
In any case, Kieft is not impressed by what PSV has on the couch. He compares the situation to Ajaxs. Brobbey of Traoré, Tadic instead of Haller, Martinez on the position of Blind, Gravenberch replaced by Blind and all without, or without sacrificing much quality. And then PSV has to do with Thomas or Mauro Junior or Baumgartl or Vertessen. That tells the whole story.”
