World Champion Hamilton is the only driver who hasnt signed his new contract yet. Van Haren argues that at some points the Brit and Mercedes are diametrically opposed to each other. According to Albers, Lewis had devised an ideal scenario for himself in which, as a world champion, he could put pressure on a higher salary. “Then George Russell literally and figuratively ripped down Hamiltons plan.”
Albers doesnt understand why Hamilton is pushing the pressure like this: “What is the last 10 million for him? The world is on fire, and then you have to take into account that its own business model is no longer working either.”
Formula 1 aims to drive a fully sustainable fuel by 2023. An interesting development according to Albers: “It might be possible that a type of petrol is developed in Formula 1 that does not pollute the environment.”
Finally, the hooks and eyes around the racing calendar, the return of Alonso and the departure of Cyril Abiteboul at Alpine are discussed. This new episode of the Formula 1 podcast also answers the question of how wet the driver gets during a rain race.
