Princess Laurentien has traditionally opened the National Voorleesdagen. Because of the coronapandemic, she did this not in the midst of a group of children, but online. Through a video connection she read to a group of toddlers and toddlers from the book Coco this morning!
That‘s what she did with the Avrotros programme Zin in Zappelin:
Coco can do it! by Loes Riphagen is the picture book of the year 2021 and is translated into Turkish, Arabic and Polish.
The book is about a little bird who has yet to learn everything. โToddlers and preschoolers also have to do a lot of things for the first time and that is very exciting,โ says Riphagen in the CCEit Radio 1 News. โThey have to figure it all out, and if you practice very well, you get better, and Coco does that in the book.โ
Read a lot
โ I think it’s a picture book that can give many families fun and hopefully also inspiration, especially in these special circumstances, now that we all have to stay at home,โ says the writer. โI hope a lot of parents, grandmothers and grandmothers and teachers read to their children, live or via a screen.โ
Mayor Aboutaleb of Rotterdam, Minister Slob of Education and well-known Dutch rapper Willy Wartaal, Diederik Jekel, Janny van der Heijden and Lieke van Lexmond are also committed online to reaffirm the importance of reading aloud.
