Three dead, eight injured in Michigan high school shooting

In the U.S. state of Michigan, three fatalities were killed in a school shooting. Eight were also injured, say local authorities. Two of the wounded are under surgery.

The suspect is a fifteen boy, who was in the second grade of school. He was arrested, the authorities report. The victims are a sixteen-year-old boy, a fourteen girl and a girl of seventeen. Nothing is known about the shooters motive.

The shooting took place at the beginning of the afternoon at Oxford High School in Oxford Township, a town of 22,000 inhabitants, about 50 kilometers north of Detroit. There are about 1700 students at the school.

School closed

After the first calls to the emergency number 911, police officers went to the school. There they were able to arrest the suspect. He had a semi-automatic weapon with several pattern holders.

The school was closed after the attack of the outside world, so that police officers could search all the premises and other spaces. Later, the pupils were taken to a nearby store, where they were picked up by their parents.
